Highlights from VISTA 30-years Anniversary

VISTA was established in 1985 as a collaborative partnership between Statoil and the Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters. VISTA’s goal has been to stimulate basic mathematical and scientific research related to the exploitation and management of Norway's petroleum resources. During VISTAs 30-years VISTA has financed around 250 projects which have led to over 1000 publications in international journals.


30. November 2015 VISTA arranged its annual conference. This year the conference was titled “World leading research in Norway?” and had interesting speakers from academia and industry.


Here are some of the highlights from the day:
















Secretary of State Bjørn Haugstad (H) gave a talk about the governments efforts and commitments relating to Norwegian research institutions.












Statoils first Chief Executive Officer Arve Johnsen gave a short and emotive lecture about Norways history in the age of oil, as well as presenting his perspectives on challanges of the future.



















Anne-Lise Børresen-Dale Prof. Toumor biology at UiO talked about how to stimulate to world leading research based on her own experiences.











After the lectures there were a panel discussion relating to the topic, lead by Aslak Bonde.


The day was concluded with café avec celebrating the 30 year long partnership between the Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters and Statoil.
