When we change the energy landscape towards a low carbon system, what will be the consequences for research, education and industry? Experts will approach this question from different angles through lectures and a concluding panel discussion during the VISTA-day on the 19th of November.
The VISTA-day is an annual event that takes place at the Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters and brings together, in addition to the VISTA network, other top scientists and policymakers.
State Secretary Kåre Fostervold, Norwegian Ministry of Petroleum and Energy will deliver the
introductory lecture "The importance of research and development in a changing energy landscape - a Government perspective".
Robert C. Armstrong, Director of MIT Engergy Initiative, will talk about the future of natural gas.
Rainer Baake, Director of Agora Energiewende, will in his talk explain the challenges of a power system based on wind and solar.
Geir Axelsen, Head of Macroeconomic and Energy Market Analysis, will elaborate on Statoil's energy perspectives.
"Energy education for the future" is the title of Dag Rune Olsen's speech. He is the rector of the University of Bergen.
Ole Petter Ottersen, rector of the University of Oslo, will talk about: "Moulding and understanding the energy landscape: the role og the universities.
VISTA is a research programme funded by Statoil, conducted in close collaberation with the Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters.
