Environment

The Environment area within VISTA aims at increasing the knowledge of the environments in which Statoil operates, or considers moving into, as well as strengthening the company's environmental technology portfolio. These goals are being sought through applying in-depth scientific and technical knowledge to challenges of high relevance for the company's own R&D activities. The majority of the projects included in the yearly report focus on the Arctic marine ecosystem. However, results that are applicable to other marine ecosystems will also be generated. It is an objective to utilise the results to support and strengthen other R&D activities undertaken by Statoil, other oil companies and the Norwegian Research Council.

Two projects were finalized during 2011, whereas one new project was initiated late in the year. Several new projects will be proposed to the board at the meeting in February 2012.
