Frode Fonnum, professor of toxicology and research director at the Norwegian Defence Research Establishment, was made a VISTA Professor in 1996. He conducts research on the mechanisms of action in the central nervous system.

Frode Fonnum was affiliated with the VISTA project "Free radicals and solvents", which also had a PhD fellow funded through the VISTA programme.

Frode Fonnum was elected as a member of the Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters in 1992.
